Excellent bakery/cafe. The pastries are excellent and the coffee was pretty good too. Nice modern vibe. (Glass, chrome and light colours). They have savory items as well as lots of pastries and cookies. I had the frangipane tart which was excellent. And my friend had the ham and cheese Danish. I also bought these amazing lemon lavender cookies. Located in a strip mall. Parking right there. A fair number of tables are available but it's a busy spot. Turnover is regular.

Cute little cafe for pastries, cakes and ice cream. Seating is a little tough as they do get busy. There's specialty jams and spreads that make great gift items as well.

Overall rating 4.5/5 (rounded up on Yelp) I've heard about Duo Cafe for years but never got around to visiting until recently. Instantly was transported to a French patisserie. From the freshly-baked, flakiest croissants and danishes I've ever seen in the suburbs, to the beautifully crafted pastries, and to the entire ambiance of the cafe, I loved my experience here! A perfect spot for afternoon meet ups and chats. Only reason I'd take off 0.5 star is because of the price. Some items (ex. sandwiches and pastries) can be quite expensive. However, I will say that the craftsmanship of the delicate, beautiful pastries & viennoiseries is outstanding, so I can understand the pricing.

Duo Cafe has been a staple in my cafe rotation since its opening. This time, I visited with a friend and we indulged in the flaky, buttery perfection of the hazelnut banane, sufficiently garlicky garlic bread, and the espresso cookie which packed a nice bitter kick (though I think they've since retired it from their menu). Prices lean towards the steep side, and finding a seat can be difficult. Once the place fills up, the ambiance quickly shifts from cozy to bustling. Service can dawdle, especially with drinks, but the staff is attentive and knowledgeable. Their display is always pristine, and prices are transparent. I'm a repeat offender for their baked goods and decadent cakes.

Highlights: Iced Chai Latte & Sheppard Quiche. But the cakes we got were not as impressive as their sister location at 230 Commerce Valley Dr. The Iced Chai Latte hit the perfect blend of spicy and sweet. Best ever. Their Sheppard Quiche was super savory. I want to buy a whole next time to enjoy it with wine at home. :) I came here as I was kind of bored of the Duo Patisseries' same cake line-ups these days - so I hoped that I can get something new here. But the experience was a bit disappointing. For cakes we got: #1. Luna: good but not wow. The tastes of raspberry, chocolate creams and the cacao biscuit base are all good but the combination did not demonstrate the textual contrast. I liked the outer thin raspberry flavored chocolate. I wished it had a dark chocolate profile - just my preference. #2. Tiramisu: Good for sure but not wow. #3. Cheese flan: It was more like a bold, buttery and dense NY Cheesecake compared to Japanese/French delicate one. Filled with coconut, cranberries, candied orange, and pineapple. These ingredients did add refreshing tastes and complex textures, but not the one I expected from Duo Patisserie level delicacy.

I got the roast beef croissant as recommended (between that and the salami one). It was super tasty. Not packed with roast beef, but enough to be pleased. Rare/med rare. Will try the salami one next time. Got their black sesame latte since they were out of the duo tea latte. It tasted like the chinese sesame stew lol. It's tasty, but not worth the price. Make sure to mix it as you drink as the sesame will settle. Will hope the duo tea latte is not sold out next time, or try a different drink. Staff is very patient and ready to serve. Ambiance is nice. Some nice quiet piano music in the background. A nice neutral / clean palette.

This cozy cafe boasts a wide selection of both savoury and sweet croissant options, catering to all tastes and preferences. Their sandwiches, cookies, and ice cream cakes also deserve a special mention for their freshness and taste. Speaking of coffee, I found it to be reasonably priced without compromising on quality. The staff at Duo Cafe were exceptionally nice and kind, adding a warm and welcoming atmosphere to the already inviting space. The dining area itself was clean and modern. In conclusion, Duo Cafe in Richmond Hill is a must-visit for anyone looking for delectable treats.
